Welcome to Between two debts! In this segment, I’ll ask a question every week and answers I receive will find their way here.
What’s the best noob platform for investing?
I started investing two months ago. (I still can’t believe I get to honestly write that sentence.) I started with STASH. It’s an app-based trading platform that allows beginners to become exposed to the market through ETFs. (Nifty little buckets of stocks.) Since they allow partial share purchases, you can invest without spending a lot. Their interface is very easy and they feature a “Learn” section that is helpful for understanding terms and the basics of investing. They also provide the necessary trade confirmation docs and tax forms, for when “that time of year” rolls around. I’ve invested nearly $500 across multiple ETFs. It’s a very easy introduction to investing. I loved it so much it gave me the confidence to recently “move up” to a big-girl TDAmeritrade account. Investing and trading aren’t one-in-the-same. Investing is like shopping for something that will provide you value for years and years.
That’s all for this week. Next week, there will be a new question and (hopefully) some fresh answers. Thanks for reading!
